Backup, Sync & Account

Your data lives on your device. Backups and an optional account keep it safe and move it between devices — export and restore a local backup file, or sign in for cloud sync.

Backup, Sync & Account

Your data lives on your device. Backups and an optional account keep it safe and move it between devices.

Backup & Restore

From the user sheet (the account icon in the header), the Local Backup & Restore panel offers:

  • Export Backup — writes everything (profiles, projectiles, locations, loads, sessions, layouts, settings) to a single backup file. On iOS and Android it opens the share sheet; on the web it downloads the file.
  • Import backup — restores from a previously exported file. Restoring replaces the current data, so export first if in doubt.
  • Import data from other apps — see Importing Data.

Account & cloud sync

An account is optional — the app is fully usable without one. Signing in adds automatic cloud backup:

  • Sign in with your email address: enter it, and the app emails you a six-digit code to type in. There is no password to remember or reset, and if you have not signed in before, entering the code creates your account. You can also Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google.
  • Passkeys — once signed in, choose Add a passkey to this device to sign in future with Face ID, Touch ID, your fingerprint or your device PIN instead of an emailed code. Passkeys are listed under your account so you can remove one for a device you no longer have. Keep email sign-in as your way back in: a passkey lives on the device that created it (or in your iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager), so a brand-new phone may not have one yet.
  • While signed in, the app syncs a backup to the cloud when you return to it; the panel shows when the last backup was made.
  • Signing in on a new device pulls your cloud backup down.
  • Sign Out stops syncing; your local data stays on the device.
  • Delete Account permanently removes your account and cloud data after an explicit confirmation. Local data on the device is not deleted.
