Profiles

A profile is one rifle-and-scope setup. Create one profile per rifle (or per rifle-and-load combination) so the solver has accurate inputs. The active profile drives every calculation.

Creating and editing

• Profiles (drawer → My Setup) lists your profiles; tap one to edit, or add a new one via the guided New Profile flow.
• Changes save as you type; there is no Save button.
• Tap the ? beside a field for an explanation of what to enter.
• Each profile in the list has a Duplicate button beside the bin: it copies the whole setup under a new name, ready to rename and adjust. Round counts and barrel-life events are not copied, so the same rounds are never counted twice.

Key fields

• Muzzle velocity: the single most important input. Chronograph it if you can; see Importing Data for chronograph file import.
• Zero range: the distance the rifle is zeroed at.
• Sight height: centre of the scope above the centre of the bore.
• Barrel twist: rate and direction; used for spin drift.
• Projectile: attached from the library or your own entries; see Projectiles.
• Discipline: airgun, rimfire, rimfire PRS, centrefire, centrefire hunting, centrefire long range, centrefire F-Class or centrefire PRS. Sets the default widget layout on Results.

Scope

A scope is saved in its own right, in My Scopes, and a profile links to one. Two rifles that share an optic (or a shooter who swaps one between them) point at the same saved scope rather than describing it twice.

• The profile’s Scope section shows the linked scope’s name and a summary of its specs. Tap it to open My Scopes and choose a different one, or Unlink scope to leave the profile without an optic.
• My Scopes (drawer → My Setup) lists your saved scopes; + New creates one and tapping one opens the scope editor (Edit Scope). Everything about the optic is edited there, not on the profile.

In the scope editor

The editor is a set of sections: Scope Model, Reticle, Turrets and Turret Tracking Correction.

• Scope Model: tap to open the Select Scope picker, a searchable catalogue grouped by manufacturer (plus generic entries). Picking a scope pre-fills its magnification range, focal plane, click values and linked reticle.
• Reticle: tap to open the Select Reticle picker (grouped by manufacturer, with thumbnail previews). The reticle drives the Scope View widget.
• Picking a reticle whose design implies a focal plane (e.g. an “FFP” model) auto-selects that focal plane. For FFP the Calibrated Magnification field is advisory only; an FFP reticle reads true at every magnification.
• Turrets: Scope Click Value (with Elevation (per click) and Windage (per click)) enables the “clicks” adjustment display and the Scope View turret controls.
• Field of View at Max Mag is optional, taken from the scope’s spec sheet. Leave it blank and the reticle is fitted automatically.

Scopes and reticles on the web

In a browser the scope and reticle catalogues stay on our server, so the two pickers list the generic entries, your own saved scopes, and any catalogue entry your own data already uses. A scope set up in the phone app comes across complete, reticle included, because a saved scope stores all of its own settings. See The Web App.

Turret tracking correction

Few turrets track perfectly: dial 10 mrad and the group may move 9.8. The Turret Tracking Correction factors scale the dialled elevation and windage to match, and stay at 1 for a turret that tracks true.

Measure them with the Tall Target Calculator inside that section: dial a known amount, shoot a plumb target, measure the actual point-of-impact shift, and enter the test range, the dialled amount and the measured shift. It returns the factor, which you then Apply to elevation or Apply to windage.

Round count and barrel history

An expanded profile carries a Shot count section: how many rounds this rifle has fired, broken down by where the count came from.

• Manual, Sessions and Loads are the three sources. Sessions and load tests are counted automatically from the shots you logged, so the total keeps itself up to date; Manual is for rounds fired before you started logging, or outside the app.
• Total (this barrel) and Lifetime are shown separately once a re-barrel has been logged, alongside Current barrel since.

Log event records the things that reset or interrupt that count: Re-barrel, Adjustment, Clean, Repair, or a plain note. Each takes a date, an optional round figure and a note.

The event list below it is one unified history, newest first: every session, every load and every event you logged, in one list. Sessions and loads there link straight to their editors, so a profile reads as the rifle’s whole story.

Per-profile units

Each profile can carry its own unit preferences (an airgun profile in metres and joules, a fullbore profile in yards and ft·lbf). See Settings & Units.

Each discipline has a default Results layout; your customisations are saved per profile. See Results & Layouts.
