Shot Timer

A practice drill timer with a random start beep, par time, and shot splits — optionally driven by the microphone so real shots stop the clock.

Shot Timer

A practice drill timer with a random start beep, par time, and shot splits.

Usage

  • Add from the palette. Start the drill for a randomised delay then a beep; record splits by tapping, or automatically via the microphone shot detector where enabled (per-firearm mic calibration is stored on the active profile).
  • Set a par time to train against the clock.

Telling one sound from another

By default the mic fires on anything loud enough to cross the trigger level, which is fine on a live-fire range but not for dry-fire practice — a firing-pin click and a finger click are equally loud and equally short.

In Calibrate microphone → Sound to listen for, name a sound and tap Teach this sound, then make the noise five times. The app records the shape of its spectrum and from then on only noises matching it count as shots. Each firearm can hold several taught sounds (e.g. “Live fire” and “Dry fire”); pick one to make it active, or pick Any loud noise to go back to loudness-only detection.

Match tolerance sets how close a noise has to be. The panel shows each noise’s live score alongside matched/rejected counts — make both the sound you want and the sounds you don’t, and set the tolerance between the two score ranges.

Some honesty about this: matching compares the shape of the sound, so it works best when you teach it at the distance and angle you’ll actually use, in a room like the one you’ll practise in. Reverberant spaces, greater distance, and a differently-oriented phone all push scores down. Tap input remains available at all times as a fallback.

Output

  • Elapsed time, the split times between shots, and pass/fail against the par time.

Apple Watch

  • On iOS with a paired watch, Send to Watch puts the timer on your wrist — runs can be started and read from the watch itself. See Apple Watch.
