These terms are the agreement between you and DaftSolutions Ltd ("we", "us"), who operate dopeology, for your use of the dopeology app on iOS, Android and the web, and of this website. By installing or using dopeology you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use it.

How we handle your information is set out separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Safety, and what this app is not

dopeology is a calculation aid. It is not a substitute for your own judgement, your own verification, or safe firearm handling. A ballistic solution is a prediction made from the numbers you enter and a model of how a projectile flies. It is not a measurement of where your shot will land.

Every output depends on inputs you supply or accept: muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, sight height, zero, atmospheric conditions and the rest. Wrong inputs produce confident, wrong answers.
Catalogue figures for projectiles, scopes and reticles are collected from manufacturer publications and other sources. We take care over them, but we do not guarantee that any figure is accurate, current, or applicable to the particular item in your hands.
Confirm on paper or steel before you rely on a solution, at the distance and in the conditions you intend to shoot.
You alone are responsible for the safe use of firearms and airguns, for identifying your target and what lies beyond it, and for complying with every law, licence condition, range rule and land permission that applies to you. Nothing in dopeology authorises a shot.

Your licence to use dopeology

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use dopeology on devices you own or control, for your own shooting. You may not sell, rent, sub-licence or redistribute the app, and you may not reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive its source code except where the law says you may despite this sentence.

Where you obtained the app from a store, the store's own terms apply alongside these, and any additional terms Apple or Google impose on apps distributed through them take precedence over anything inconsistent here.

The catalogues

The projectile, scope and reticle catalogues are licensed for your own use inside dopeology, and not passed to you as data to keep. You may not bulk-download, scrape, extract, republish or redistribute them, in whole or in substantial part, or use them to build or train a competing product or dataset. Exporting your own records (profiles, loads, sessions, shot strings, DOPE) is a feature, and nothing here restricts it.

Accounts

dopeology works fully on your device with no account. If you create one, keep control of the email address, passkey or Apple/Google account it depends on: anyone who controls those controls your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been used without your permission. One account is for one person. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to abuse the service or to breach these terms.

You can delete your account and its cloud data at any time from within the app, under Account. What that removes, and what stays on your device, is described in the Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions and payment

dopeology itself is not a subscription. The app, your data and local backup to a file are available without paying us anything. The optional cloud backup subscription adds automatic backup of your data to our servers, sync and restore across your devices, and full access to the web app.

Terms and prices. Subscriptions are offered on a monthly or an annual term. The price for your country and currency is the one shown to you by the App Store, Google Play or the checkout page at the moment you subscribe, and that is the price you pay.
They renew automatically. A subscription renews at the end of each term, at the then-current price, and is charged to the payment method held by whichever store or payment provider you bought it from, until you cancel.
Cancelling. Cancel at any time through the store you bought it from (App Store: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Google Play: Play Store → Subscriptions) or, for a web purchase, through the link on your receipt. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term; you keep the subscription until then. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Price changes. If we change the price of a term, the store notifies you before it applies to you and you may cancel rather than accept it.
Refunds are handled by the store or payment provider that took the payment, under its own policy, not by us.
If your subscription lapses, nothing is deleted. Your data stays on your device, and anything already backed up can still be restored; only new cloud backups stop.

Requests, reports and anything you send us

The app lets you ask for a projectile or scope to be added, report a problem, or suggest a feature. When you send us technical details for the catalogues, you allow us to use, correct and publish those details within dopeology and its catalogues, without payment and without attribution. Your email address and your installation identifier are never published; see the Privacy Policy. Do not send us anything you do not have the right to share, and do not send material that is unlawful, abusive or someone else's confidential information.

Your data

Your profiles, loads, sessions, logs, groups and photographs are yours. We claim no ownership of them. While you hold a cloud backup subscription you permit us to store and transmit that data solely to provide backup, sync and restore to you. Cloud backup is a convenience, not an archive of record: keep your own local backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Third-party devices and services

dopeology can talk to chronographs, wind meters, rangefinders and watches from other manufacturers. Those integrations are our own independent work. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any of those manufacturers, and we are not responsible for their hardware, firmware, apps or accuracy. Weather data comes from third-party providers and is supplied as-is.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to our servers or to another user's data; do not use automated means to extract data from the service beyond ordinary use of the app; and do not use dopeology for anything unlawful. We may limit or withdraw access where this is breached.

Availability

The offline calculator works without us. The account, cloud backup, catalogue lookups and the web app depend on servers, and we do not promise that they will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the service; where a change would materially reduce something you have paid for, we will tell you and you may cancel.

No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, dopeology is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that any ballistic solution, catalogue figure or measurement produced by the app is accurate or suitable for any particular shot.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss of data, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability arising out of or in connection with dopeology is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £50.

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms do not affect.

Ending this agreement

You may end it at any time by deleting the app and, if you have one, your account. We may end it, or suspend your access, if you materially breach these terms. The sections on the catalogues, no warranty and liability survive.

Changes

As dopeology develops we will update these terms and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be made clear before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept them.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your own country and may bring proceedings there.
