Scope View

A reticle drawing with the point of impact placed at the active range, a through-the-scope preview of the hold, with working turrets.

Usage

  • Add from the palette. Uses the reticle, focal plane (FFP/SFP), magnification range and turret click values of the scope linked to the active profile. Set those up in My Scopes → Edit Scope; see Profiles.
  • The impact marker and wind band move with the solved drop and the low/high wind drift.
  • The header pill shows the current magnification and the scope’s adjustment unit; the footer shows RETICLE, FOCAL and CLICK.

Controls

Controls sit in their real-scope positions around the circle, and each is size-capped so the reticle takes the growth of a larger tile.

  • ZOOM: a vertical stepper to the left of the circle, one magnification step per tap, clamped to the scope’s magnification range.
  • Magnify (crosshair icon, under the zoom knob): a digital zoom into the centre of the crosshair, on top of the optical magnification. It narrows the framed field of view only; it does not change the scope’s magnification or the FFP/SFP geometry.
  • ELEVATION: a horizontal stepper above the circle. U dials up, D dials down.
  • WINDAGE: a vertical stepper to the right of the circle, L on top and R on the bottom.
  • Reset (icon under the windage turret): clears both turret offsets. It stays greyed out until something has been dialled.

On a tile 12 rows tall or in full screen, the controls move into one band above the circle, in the same arrangement (zoom left, elevation centre, windage right) with Magnify and Reset under elevation, so the reticle gets the full width. Where that would make the reticle smaller (a phone held landscape), the controls stay at the sides.

Turrets are dialled one click per tap and the readout shows the accumulated dial at the click’s precision (e.g. +0.50 MOA). Steppers are used instead of a drag tape because they stay reliable inside the scrolling/paging results screen. Turret controls appear only when the linked scope has click values set.

On an SFP scope away from its calibrated magnification, a hint reads Holds valid at N× only.

Configurable

The gear adds an optional target to the view, an object of a size you know, drawn at the angle it actually subtends at the current range:

  • Show target: on/off.
  • Shape: From target (follows the active target’s saved shape) or a specific circle / square / diamond.
  • Size and Unit (mm, cm or in): entered and stored as typed; the widget converts to an angle.

The target is drawn at the point of impact, so dialling the turrets walks it back to the crosshair: dial until it centres and you have your solution. The impact marker is drawn over it.

Show drops labels holds on the reticle’s vertical stem with yellow crosses. It only draws on a tile 12 rows tall or in full screen. Choose one:

  • Subtensions: labels the marks the reticle actually has on its stem (hashes, bars, dots, chevron points) with the range a round held there lands at. Whole keeps the marks at whole mil/MOA values, Whole + half adds the half values, and All marks labels every stem mark, which is the one to pick for a BDC reticle, whose holds sit at uneven values. A reticle with nothing on its stem (a plain duplex) gets no marks. On an SFP scope the ranges follow the zoom, since the pattern shrinks as the magnification rises; this needs the scope’s calibrated magnification, and shows nothing without one.
  • Targets: marks each selected target, labelled with its name.
  • Every step: marks every step of range, in metres or yards (set alongside the step, so changing the app’s distance unit later does not rescale it).

At most 15 marks are drawn, nearest first, and only inside the circle. A mark that would sit on top of a nearer one’s label is left out. The exception is a short range still climbing from below the line of sight (an airgun at 10 m, say) that shares its hold with a far range: the two share one cross, labelled with both (e.g. 10m / 40m). The marks follow the elevation turret: dial up and each hold reaches further.

Output

  • The reticle pattern in a circle that grows to fill the card, so a larger widget shows a bigger reticle.
  • An impact dot with a horizontal wind band spanning the low/high wind drift, closed at each end by a short upright bracket.
  • With a target: the target outline at its true angular size, at the point of impact, under the impact dot.
  • On a small or short tile the widget drops its title bar, control labels and footer so the scope, turrets and zoom still fit.
