Wind Meter

Drives the wind from a connected wind meter (Calypso ultrasonic or WeatherFlow WEATHERmeter). It writes into the same wind state as Wind Input, so the dial and every wind-dependent solve follow along.

Usage

  • Add from the palette. Until a meter is connected it shows a prompt; the header tag shows the connected device name (or No meter).
  • Pick a mode with the MAN / CAPT / LIVE toggle (the accent outline marks the active one):
    • MAN — the meter is ignored; the hand-entered wind stands. The current LOW/HIGH and direction are shown for reference.
    • CAPT — tap Start Capture, hold the meter to the wind, then Stop Capture; the min over that period becomes LOW, the max HIGH, and the mean feeds direction. A running readout shows while capturing, and the captured values stay on screen afterwards.
    • LIVE — the reading collapses the band to a single value and drives the direction (the default when a meter connects).
  • With Wind input set to Single (see Wind Input), a captured bracket reads as its high (gust) value; Live is unaffected, as it already writes one value.

Battery

  • To save battery, an idle Live reading is pushed into the solve only once per interval; the last-update time is shown below the readout.
  • Configurable (gear): Live update every sets that interval — 15 s, 30 s, 1, 2, 5, 10 or 30 min. The default is 5 minutes. Shorter is fresher but drains the meter and phone battery faster.
  • While a capture is running here, or a Wind Chart recording is active, Live updates on every reading instead, whatever the interval.
